May 3 (Reuters) – Heidenheim keeper Kevin Mueller has suffered a concussion, the Bundesliga club said on Saturday after the 34-year-old lost consciousness and was taken to hospital following a collision during their home game against VfL Bochum.

Mueller, who joined Heidenheim in 2015 and has started every league game for the relegation-threatened club this season, collided with Bochum’s Ibrahima Sissoko in the 50th minute of the goalless draw on Friday.

“It is not clear how long Kevin Mueller will be out for,” Heidenheim said in a statement.

Heidenheim, who earned a promotion to the Bundesliga in 2023, are 16th with two matches left and risk going into the relegation playoffs as they sit four points below 15th-placed Hoffenheim who have played a game less. (Reporting by Chiranjit Ojha in Bengaluru, editing by Ed Osmond)
